A lead generation system is one of the keys to creating a steady stream of qualified customers and business partners for your network marketing business. Maybe purchasing a leads list has worked for you, but many people I speak with spend hundreds of dollars and make little to no money.

Receiving a large quantity of leads does nothing to expand your business unless they are high quality targeted leads. Generating new quality leads is an ongoing and sometimes difficult process, but absolutely necessary to building a successful business.

There are two ways to generate leads in network marketing. The first way we will discuss is purchasing a leads list.

When calling a lead, the distributor wants to know that they are pre-qualified. Ideally, we would hope that the lead is expecting, even anticipating a call from you and they are open to what you have to share with them.

Buying leads list is one method network marketers utilize to help them build their businesses. Buying leads comes with a high risk of wasting a lot of money with little to no positive impact on income.

Many people spend $100 to $500 on their lead list that is advertised as pre-qualified. After calling most of the leads and discovering many bad phone numbers, email addresses, or hostility if reached, most people will become frustrated and give up.

Network marketers need to be sure they are spending their advertising budget in the areas that will give them the highest quality leads for the least amount of money. Like any other business; we are looking for a return on investment that will prove financially successful.

Network marketing has the ability to build a residual income using many people, each doing a little work. This is the power of leverage! Network marketing is about building relationships.

How many people do you know that have failed in the Network Marketing Industry? Almost everyone? Too many? Have you decided it won’t work for you?

Will network marketing work for you? Twenty, thirty, forty years ago Network Marketing business owners did not believe that they needed to form alliances, build relationships, or market their products to those who were actually interested in what they had to offer.

A network marketing business is just like any other business…

My husband and I own an Electrical Contracting Business. We advertise our business through the phone book, on our work vehicles, by word-of-mouth, and various other methods. There are people in town who will gladly recommend him to their friends or business associates because of the work he has done for them in the past.

We do not use the three-foot rule and ask everyone within three feet of us if they are ready for some electrical work. We do not talk about our business non-stop when we see our friends, and these things would never occur to us.

Why would we market our network marketing business in such a manner? Why do many leaders teach their team to market their business in this way?

Well, that is how it use to be, but no more! Just don’t do it because this will harm your relationships rather than build them. Network marketing relationships are built on know, like and trust.

Will I have help? Define Help. Help can be defined two ways in an MLM Business.

A) In Advocare International, Tahia Noni, Arbonne, and many more MLM Companies, help is defined as:

1) Making a list of fifty family and friends

If you can get enough people to come, I will help you run the home party. Your job is to be excited beyond belief and convince all your friends that they need to join your new MLM business as well. I’ve been told over and over by people who’ve been involved that this is the drill.

There is no duplicatable system that will work for all four-color personalities with this method.

B) Another definition of “help” would be as follows:

1) Provide a duplicatable system to your new prospects that any one will be able to use effectively and teach them how to work the system.

2) Give your prospects physical help advertising their new business in whatever way they choose, and be a moral support when your new prospects face challenges as everyone does in any MLM business.

Consider what will work best for you in building your MLM business. About 15% of the population will be able to effectively utilize the family, friends and acquaintances method, as this really is an individual way to build a MLM business.

It is NOT duplicatable; therefore, the other 85% of the population is frustrated with MLM and many believe it is their fault it’s not working for them. They think network marketing in general may not work.

I was talking to a gentleman in Australia last week who really “gets” what marketing is… He defined marketing as having nothing to do with sales. Marketing is evaluating your potential customers needs and then determining if you can meet their needs.
When you are marketing, you are researching their needs. You are not selling anything yet. Right now you are still trying to determined which people need and want what you have. The selling comes later and possibly not even by you.

EX. McDonald’s or KFC advertisements. The employees of these establishments do not go out on the highway and flag you down shoving chicken nuggets in your car window (no but there is a pizza place in Oklahoma City, OK who has one of their employees on the street corner with their sign… LOL, LOL). They do research, determine who their target market really is, and then market to this group of people.

How will you attract prospective customers and business partners to your MLM business? We all need a system of some sort that everyone can use, not just a few.
