My friend told me the story of a bus driver and a heart surgeon. He asked me which person did I think made more money. I told him I thought the heart surgeon made more money.

Then my friend explained that yes, the heart surgeon made more money, but the bus driver and the heart surgeon were in very similar situations because in both careers when they finish their shifts and go home at the end of the day, neither person makes any more money.

Once they complete their bus route or finish the scheduled surgeries for that day, they will not create any additional income in that day.

Most people do not have the talent of JK Rowlings or Julia Roberts to create a residual income writing novels and making movies. The network marketing business opportunity is a viable option for many people who would like to own their own home-based business and earn residual income.

As you lay your head down on your pillow tonight, think about earning a residual income while you sleep. Will you sleep soundly and wake up to an overnight earnings of hundreds or thousands of dollars the next day? People who earn residual income have the opportunity of having money in the bank in the morning.

There is nothing wrong with linear income, but most people in network marketing would like to make residual income at some point in their career. That is one of the attractive features, just as the stock market is attractive for it’s residual income potential.

Many people are either looking for a home-based business or currently own their own home-based business. All across the nation, people are facing higher gas prices, mortgage struggles, and general rising prices and many people need an extra income source.

Earning an extra $200 per month would create new possibilities in the lives of many people across the world. Why do some people stay with a company for 10 years while other people only remain for one year? Wouldn’t you stay if you were making a good income and needed the products anyway?

What are people looking for in a home-based business?

1) Team leadership in which they are NOT the only ones earning six-figure incomes
2) Team or company that has their own lead generation system
3) Products that are needed by everyone

I have noticed within the last five months, probably due to the tightening economy, that a large number of people do not have extra money to meet a $150 to $200 auto-ship order.

They need lower auto-ships and the ability to order products they would normally use. This is a very individual determination depending on what products each person considers “necessary”.
Can you make a paycheck with this company? Does your home-based business opportunity offer products you would purchase without having to spend extra money monthly? Does your team have a system to generate leads for your business?

Home- based businesses are not “get rich quick” schemes.  You will need to work to have success, and you will need to get a $20 check before you get a $200 check or a $2000 check.  If someone tells you they can guarantee you wealth or even the $20 check, be careful.  Any time you begin your own business, you’re taking a chance for a better life.

Relationship marketing is directly related to caring about the “person” rather than their bank account. Build relationships on truth and honesty just as you would any lasting friendship.

Relationship marketing involves being honest and sincere with the people you meet along the way. Build credibility with prospects by telling them that the industry average for most people to achieve success in any home-based business is 3 to 5 years rather than letting them think they will most likely achieve success in 3 to 5 weeks.

If business owners achieve their business goals in a shorter amount of time, that is great!!! Building a successful home-based business will require some working capital for products and possibly marketing their new business. There are opportunities to market a home-based business for FREE, but many advertising avenues will cost some money.

As with any home-based business, the owner is afforded the opportunity for additional tax deductions, which in turn may free up additional income for marketing activities.
