brenda Does your company have a built-in duplicatable training system for all members to plug into as they build their businesses?

Some studies have shown there is a missing piece of the puzzle in all of network marketing and it is this missing piece that causes so many start up businesses and distributor’s individual businesses to decline or collapse, given enough time.

So what is this “missing piece of the puzzle“? It is having a built in, duplicable, delegatable and accountable management structure including a  company-wide training program! Typically, as a network marketer builds an organization, their income increases…… and so does their work. The dream of freedom that includes free time or retirement is rarely, if ever realized. An organization may exist with “pay levels and “titles” achieved, but no real management structure and accountability exists.

Although, certainly required, it is not enough to be able to prospect and sponsor new members and business owners into your organization or to be able to pass on successful prospecting and sponsoring methods to everyone on your team.

You will need duplicatable, delegatable and accountable management structure to help secure what you have built and ensure your organization and income will continue to grow without your efforts.

Consider the company you are with or looking into; do they have an accountable management structure?  What about a company-wide training program? Ultimately, the question is can you succeed where you are now?

working coffee In a recent post, Dana was told her lack of success in her work from home business was because her “dream wasn’t big enough“.

Most MLM’s Equal Two Strikes From The Beginning

1) Over-priced products - Her company’s prices had to be 30 to 40 percent above the industry average for this category to pay the hefty bonuses they offer the top tier of their organization

2) Lack Of Training- Dana had no real step by step solid training.  MLM’s rarely offer a company-wide training program to their distributors. Any training that might be received is normally due to the “up-line’s(MLM term only) personal efforts and skill in this area.  It rarely is a company-wide requirement for advancement.

3) Dana was being asked to market products/services that most people did not consider a “necessity” in their lives; therefore, when expenses did not allow for extras, they had to quit buying. “Necessity” means something different for everyone.

Dana’s Needs

In order to be successful, Dana has decided she needs average priced products people need or want and step by step training to teach her how to build her work from home business.

Dana found one such business with a FREE Shopping Membership she was able to join and check out for herself. She saw an opportunity for herself and those who are thriving in their work from home business as well.  They can order their copy paper, ink, Skype, I-tunes through the club and save money

woman on internet coffee The work from home industry is rapidly changing, especially regarding the way sourcing leads is achieved. When lead generation was conducted mainly off-line, they were very difficult to find, so when the marketer found a good lead, they guarded it with their life.

Who could blame them? A lead back then meant an opportunity to add someone to their organization and take another step towards creating residual income. While many have built great businesses using these methods, it was still flawed to the extent that rejection was a major killer of people’s hopes and dreams.

Fast forward to today. The Internet is such a dominant player that the task of generating quality leads has been made a lot easier. No, it’s not a piece of cake because there is definite skill required in sourcing leads on-line but the truth is, the word rejection is less of an issue…much less.

Forget about buying those unresponsive third party leads. They multiply the rejection effect enormously and can contribute to you leaving your business in a hurry.

Give your prospects something of value for free or at very low cost.  I am giving a Free Shopping Membership.  The people who do take the membership are under no obligation to buy at any time, the membership is Free, and they save money on their purchases.  There are many ways to generate leads in your work from home business.

Good luck!

coffee outside The home-based business owner can approach an individual with various opportunities that might fit their needs. While the idea of being approached with your home-business opportunity turns off most merchants, many end users will be open to both the idea of great products and an extra paycheck.

Usually you will only need one or two contacts with a consumer for them to decide to try your product or service. Some of this depends on the cost and commitment of your product.

Normally, it will require some time before they join you in your home-based business, even if they are your best prospects.  They will need time to decide for themselves.

working coffee Did you know marketing your home-based business products or services  to a merchant is a different process from marketing to the individual consumer?

Marketing To A Merchant

Do you have a product or service that one or more merchants would be interested in using in their business?

Approaching a merchant is very different than marketing to the individual consumer. It will take three, maybe four successful visits to a merchant before you can mark it ‘Sold‘.

First Contact -  Is either a phone call to set an appointment for a visit or you “dropping in” to see when a convenient time would be to visit with the merchant.

Second Contact - Keep your appointment you’ve made with your merchant to present the concept of your product or service.

Third Contact -  You may have been asked to leave some information for them to look over or asked for additional details.  You have contacted your merchant to answer more questions or present more information to your potential client.

Fourth Contact- The ‘sale

This is a guideline and as we all know, real life doesn’t always follow set rules, so you will just need to be flexible and patient.

The Cardinal Rule:  Do Not Expect Merchants To Want A Home-based Business

Merchants already have a business that they are working hard in to make it succeed.  Your product or service must be an asset to them, you must be able to provide great service, and in general they DO NOT want a home-based business.

brendaDana was in a work from home business with a MLM company who believes in promoting their business face to face.  Dana was told by her sponsor after a year of consistently……

1) Calling all her family and friends

2) Holding in home parties

3) Calling her retail customers every two weeks for reorders

“Your dream isn’t BIG enough.”

Dana gave up her evenings with family to go to company meetings 60 miles away.  Unfortunately she really had a difficult time selling enough of her product to create a significant work from home income.

What do you think? Was this her fault?

brendaIf you’ve been dreaming of a short commute to work, you’ve probably wondered if a work at home situation could work for you.

I was visiting with a young lady the other day who gave me her perspective on driving in New York City.  Her family had visited her in Stillwater, OK, which is where I live and were surprised at how quiet it is here in a small town. She, in turn, was amazed at the noise in NYC ALL the time.

Stillwater, OK:

If the citizens in Stillwater have to drive 20 minutes to eat a restaurant or shop in a store, they ARE driving completely across town.  We do not have bumper to bumper traffic in Stillwater, unless it would be the first day that Oklahoma State University were beginning their college classes in August.

Accidents seem frequent, but are cleared out fairly quickly and people stop to help or will at least call the appropriate emergency departments for them.

New York City:

She said there were people everywhere, it was very pretty and was exciting.  She noted that the drive from NYC to downtown NYC is an incredibly long process.  People just take public transportation for the most part.

They were witnesses to a car accident when driving to downtown NYC to show this visitor around.

Two things struck her as interesting:

1) She was told:  You do NOT make a phone call or say you are a witness to a car accident unless you are willing to make a court appearance at a later date as a witness.

2) They were stopped for FIVE hours due to an accident that occurred ahead of them.  They were literally at a stand still!

If you are a person who spends several hours per day commuting to and from work, you may have spent that time thinking of all the time you could be spending with your family, taking up a hobby, or just having some personal “down” time for yourself.

Will your company allow you to work from home?  This is one option, but another option is to start your own work from home business.  Have you been thinking along these lines too?  Think about it, what could working from home do for you personally, even on a part-time basis?

It’s not easy for many people starting their home-based business to make that first call to a new prospect.

First Time Calling A Prospect:

A) Establish a prospect’s why

B) Establish you as the person with the solution.

You are basically a facilitator of a solution. The initial conversation should establish a mutual and meaningful discussion between you and your prospect.

Knowing how to handle your first phone conversation with a prospect is one of the best network marketing tools you can possess.

Emotional Sabatoge

Many multi-level marketing business business owners search for the right thing to say in that first phone call, but end up pushing the potential business partner or client away with sales pressure or coming across as desperate.

The problem with many business owners is they are so eager to pour out their emotions about how great their business and products are that before they know it, they’ve sabotaged any chance of the prospect wanting to take a further look.

It’s All About …. Who?

The home-based business owner has made this first phone conversation all about themselves. Believe it or not, the person on the other end of the line isn’t interested in you personally or your company and products. All they are interested in is whether your offer can benefit them.

Try to remember how if felt before you found your home-based business and you were the prospect. I am offering a FREE Shopping page for visiting my site.  I ordered personal checks last night and saved about $8 over what I normally spend on checks. You can save on business and personal purchases.
