As an owner of a work from home business you have options that those who are working for someone else do not enjoy, but you must stay on top of the changing business world or fall behind.
While some of your competitors may fold during this time, but new competition may join the home-based business world, with new strategies for taking the lion’s share of the market share.
What can you do to thrive during a recession?
Reach New Borders
Change the borders of your territory. Even if your opportunity does not involve geographical limitations, this is the time to expand your reach to new prospects.
Prospects will still be looking for your products or opportunity, but the prospect may be found in different places than before.
The Internet is a tremendous resource for changing your reach without big outlays in new physical locations, additional franchises, and other requirements that many traditional businesses have. Use the advantage to build your work from home business.

There is little doubt network marketers are your number one target market when promoting your network marketing opportunity. Why?
Network marketers already know the business, how it works, and more importantly, what’s required. Network marketers are people who are normally looking for a better way of life.
But just pitching to MLMers the old school way won’t cut it. Don’t be surprised if you get run out of town just putting it mildly. Targeting network marketers directly is frowned upon and worse still, it’s spells desperation.
When we say targeting network marketers for your home-based business opportunity, we are talking about putting your offer in front of people who actually want to receive it. Can you see the difference? It’s huge. Instead of harassing and chasing people down, branding yourself and putting your message in the middle of a hungry crowd will create magic as far as lead generation is concerned.

As far as network marketing tips are concerned, avoiding a desperate demeanor on the phone is high on the list. For example, many new recruits are so excited about speaking to their first prospect they already have them recruited and placed in their organization before they’ve even spoken with them.
Another network marketing tip for you is to never ask your prospect to join your business because you’re in the best company which has the best products, life-changing in fact, and they have the best compensation plan bar none. Most everyone believes this about their company, and most companies have some very good products.
The prospect will see a desperate individual trying to sign them up at any cost. In fact, you’ll come across as having no interest in their needs, only yours.
Today’s network marketing tip is to make sure you put your prospect’s needs ahead of your own. How can you help them reach their goals? Can you help them?
Be honest with them about what your company has to offer and let them decide if it works for them. Be sure to offer your readers something of value. I offer my readers a Free Shopping Membership to my online shopping mall. There is no obligation except to save a little money youthey shop.

It’s true, there are network marketers considered to be in limbo. That is, they are between work from home businesses or have tried it before and are currently in a situation where they are looking for the right opportunity or may believe the right home-based business may not exist for them.
Can you see the power in going after a targeted niche who already knows why it will be good for them as opposed to a group who still don’t know why they need a network marketing opportunity?
That’s why old school networking methods such as the “three foot rule” are detrimental to building a networking business, and why it’s such a killer for a person’s confidence. It gets back to putting your offer in front of people who are ready to receive it.
Have you asked your prospects IF they are looking for a home-based business and what are they looking for IN a business? If you simply put it in front of anyone, then the chances are very strong the majority will reject it thus leaving you dejected.
Worse case scenario, you will eventually become disheartened from the “not interested” responses and bail out of your own work from home business, thus giving up on an industry with a great future.

No doubt you have heard of relationship marketing? Why are so many people utilizing the social networking sites to keep in touch with friends and build their businesses?
Social sites are an awesome way to reconnect with classmates and old friends you may have lost track of temporarily. I recently became more active in Facebook because I found many of my high school classmates there. That has been a blast!
How about quickly chatting with some of your peers in Twitter or Social Median? You may not know everyone as well as you do your former classmates, but it’s a great way to build relationships.
“Relationship Marketing” is NOT just a popular new term. Building relationships with people is what network marketing is all about. People are fine with email and chatting on instant messenger once they get to know you, but the personal touch is still a very desirable to most people.
If you live across the country or even state from your team, pick up the phone once in a while and let them know you care about them as a person. Building relationships in social networking sites works, but only if you are genuine.

When talking to a prospect for your work from home business try to give out company links when possible so the prospect can review the material.
Once the material is reviewed, ask questions that will help them determine if the work from home business you have is for them.
Good Questions To Ask A Prospect:
1) What are you looking for in a home business?
2) How familiar are you with the computer?
3) How many hours per week do you have to devote to a home business?
4) How do you see yourself marketing your business?
Once you have qualified your prospects, sit back and let them tell you what will work best for them.
Be ready to help them get started!

How difficult is it to “hold back” , telling everything you know about your new home-based business when you are excited? Every time I get off the phone with a prospect, I am afraid I’ve given more information than was necessary and I know better.
What happens to some home-based business owners is that they don’t want people to think their questions are not being answered. In the quest to be honest with them, some people give too much information.
I may tell you everything wonderful about my work from home business, except the one thing you were looking for. There is a way to provide plenty of information and yet avoid “showing too much” to a prospect!

As a person excited about our new work from home business, we tend to “show a little too much” in our exuberance to share the business with others.
Just as “leaving a little to the imagination” is advisable when dressing for your day, it is also advisable to leave a little for the prospect to learn on their own.
Why Keep It Simple
If you tell them everything you know, they will probably make their decision based on what you’ve said without researching things for themselves.
Maybe what is important to you will not strike a chord of importance with them, and they will walk away from the work from home business thinking they have made a wise choice and missing out on a work from home situation that would be perfect for them.
