ENetwork marketing works if the products or services offered have a market that needs them. I believe in it because we all “network” at some point. It’s not always what you know, but who you know. More business deals have been made on the golf course than in the boardroom.
Take my daughter for example:
She was looking for her first job at 16. She turned in several applications, but nothing really happened. She also “networked” without realizing that’s what it was called. She visited with friends to find out where they worked (she’s the youngest) and asked what it was like, if there were openings. She would have used some of her friends as references (networking).
As it turned out networking did get her the two jobs she currently has. I was in my investors office and they mentioned needing some part-time help. I mentioned Kayla. They knew her and asked me to have her call them. Her second job was acquired when we were picking out her prom dress. We had purchased from them last year and been in there quite a bit. The owner was looking for seasonal temporary help and asked Kayla to come work for her. Networking, talking to people about what it is you’re looking for.
We all network, but finding a company with products or services that will be in high demand by the general population makes it difficult. Many MLM companies carry products that are not distinctive to the general public, but demand a high price. If you just compare the number of MLM companies that carry nutrition and skin care products only to each other, how does a consumer decide which is truly distinctive? You have to get them to try the product….. more later.

One of my readers commented on my last post “ Internet Marketing Tools | Does One Size Fit All? ” that the public is much more technically savvy and able to discover sellers who have set out with the sole intention of “duping” the public or at the very least, it’s all about them! Still, many people are new to the Internet and the world of marketing. Being new, everyone has a learning curve.
Network Marketing Partners
I am now with a good group of people in my primary business who I share information with on a regular basis (it wasn’t always this way). We talk to each other and see if anyone has tried the product or knows anything about it. We’ll have each other read the websites for information or check to see if one of the group has something similar we can all use.
If you have a group of experienced Internet marketers who are capable and willing to share all information, this is an excellent venue and utilizes everyone’s experiences for the benefit of everyone.
Social Networking
Because I made some mistakes early on, I now do a lot more “networking” with people I meet and have developed a relationship with through various companies or social media sites.
Ask the question, “Do you know anything about…..?” then check it out on forums for yourself. Try a free version or look at any excerpts they may offer for you to “test drive”. An opportunity to “test” the product before purchasing the full package is always a great option.

As I mentioned on the last post, every single site I’ve been on that has Internet marketing tools say THEY have the very best material for you in every way. They all say the same thing, so how do you as a new marketer determine what is right for you?
A rating of the material with regards to necessary prerequisite skills would be helpful. Think of the wide variety of Web Site builder programs for example. Some are very “plug and play”, but will allow a pre-determined amount of templates or you can create custom web sites with very advanced programs.
How about a sample of “what you get” so that you can determine if it will work for you.? Maybe they could put an excerpt of the Internet Marketing Tools available on-line for you to see how they write, the topics they will cover, the depth of the information?
You can type in “the author’s name“ or “name of material” and “forum”. This may bring up some discussion of the material for sale. Having said that, remember people are more likely to post a negative comment before a positive one.
You also need to read all comments for a fair description of the material. Maybe the network marketing training was too technical for Jack S., but great for the advanced user. Possibly the material was written only for beginners and that’s why Jodi M. was unhappy. You can usually tell a fair review verses an emotional rant.
Talk to other people in your industry and see what Internet marketing tools they might recommend. You might be surprised at the number of helpful network marketing tips you get … for free. Ultimately you must decide if this expert fits with your needs. Is there a match?

This morning I read on another blog that the federal government may begin to require negative testimonies as well as positive ones when showing reviews of the sales and marketing materials of “gurus”.
Many of these materials cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. I’ve seen some of them and had noticed there were never negative comments. The material seemed to be perfect for every user at all levels.
“Are there no negative comments?“ I mean, is the material “meaty” enough for everyone? All of the purchasers feel they received more than enough information for their money?
We must remember they are business people making a profit on their marketing material as well as promoting themselves. On every single site I’ve been on, they have the very best material for you in every way. They all say the same thing, so how do you determine as a new marketer what is right for you?
Selling their materials or programs is perfectly fine, but if testimonies are involved, maybe they need to include both positive and negative reviews.

It’s true, there are network marketers considered to be in limbo. That is, they are between work from home businesses or have tried it before and are currently in a situation where they are looking for the right opportunity or may believe the right home-based business may not exist for them.
Can you see the power in going after a targeted niche who already knows why it will be good for them as opposed to a group who still don’t know why they need a network marketing opportunity?
That’s why old school networking methods such as the “three foot rule” are detrimental to building a networking business, and why it’s such a killer for a person’s confidence. It gets back to putting your offer in front of people who are ready to receive it.
Have you asked your prospects IF they are looking for a home-based business and what are they looking for IN a business? If you simply put it in front of anyone, then the chances are very strong the majority will reject it thus leaving you dejected.
Worse case scenario, you will eventually become disheartened from the “not interested” responses and bail out of your own work from home business, thus giving up on an industry with a great future.

When talking to a prospect for your work from home business try to give out company links when possible so the prospect can review the material.
Once the material is reviewed, ask questions that will help them determine if the work from home business you have is for them.
Good Questions To Ask A Prospect:
1) What are you looking for in a home business?
2) How familiar are you with the computer?
3) How many hours per week do you have to devote to a home business?
4) How do you see yourself marketing your business?
Once you have qualified your prospects, sit back and let them tell you what will work best for them.
Be ready to help them get started!

As a person excited about our new work from home business, we tend to “show a little too much” in our exuberance to share the business with others.
Just as “leaving a little to the imagination” is advisable when dressing for your day, it is also advisable to leave a little for the prospect to learn on their own.
Why Keep It Simple
If you tell them everything you know, they will probably make their decision based on what you’ve said without researching things for themselves.
Maybe what is important to you will not strike a chord of importance with them, and they will walk away from the work from home business thinking they have made a wise choice and missing out on a work from home situation that would be perfect for them.
Do you have a work from home business you are happy with? If so, I have an additional marketing tool that might be of interest to you.

Do you have a work from home business that offers books, business services like Skype, website building or other information? Can a similar service be found for FREE or at a nominal fee?
Some work from home products and services start at $1000 and up for you to be able to fully participate. If the products or services are unique or you are buying a franchise, this may be money well spent. If, however, you are able to find similar products or services for much less, will it be easy to build a consumer base?
Step back and ask yourself this question, “If I were NOT interested in a home-based business opportunity, would I still buy this product or service at full retail? “ The KEY here is not to become emotionally involved before this question has been answered!

Does your company have a built-in duplicatable training system for all members to plug into as they build their businesses?
Some studies have shown there is a missing piece of the puzzle in all of network marketing and it is this missing piece that causes so many start up businesses and distributor’s individual businesses to decline or collapse, given enough time.
So what is this “missing piece of the puzzle“? It is having a built in, duplicable, delegatable and accountable management structure including a company-wide training program! Typically, as a network marketer builds an organization, their income increases…… and so does their work. The dream of freedom that includes free time or retirement is rarely, if ever realized. An organization may exist with “pay levels“ and “titles” achieved, but no real management structure and accountability exists.
Although, certainly required, it is not enough to be able to prospect and sponsor new members and business owners into your organization or to be able to pass on successful prospecting and sponsoring methods to everyone on your team.
You will need duplicatable, delegatable and accountable management structure to help secure what you have built and ensure your organization and income will continue to grow without your efforts.
Consider the company you are with or looking into; do they have an accountable management structure? What about a company-wide training program? Ultimately, the question is can you succeed where you are now?

In a recent post, Dana was told her lack of success in her work from home business was because her “dream wasn’t big enough“.
Most MLM’s Equal Two Strikes From The Beginning
1) Over-priced products - Her company’s prices had to be 30 to 40 percent above the industry average for this category to pay the hefty bonuses they offer the top tier of their organization
2) Lack Of Training- Dana had no real step by step solid training. MLM’s rarely offer a company-wide training program to their distributors. Any training that might be received is normally due to the “up-line’s” (MLM term only) personal efforts and skill in this area. It rarely is a company-wide requirement for advancement.
3) Dana was being asked to market products/services that most people did not consider a “necessity” in their lives; therefore, when expenses did not allow for extras, they had to quit buying. “Necessity” means something different for everyone.
Dana’s Needs
In order to be successful, Dana has decided she needs average priced products people need or want and step by step training to teach her how to build her work from home business.
Dana found one such business with a FREE Shopping Membership she was able to join and check out for herself. She saw an opportunity for herself and those who are thriving in their work from home business as well. They can order their copy paper, ink, Skype, I-tunes through the club and save money
